Neural Organisational Technique (NOT) at Peak Performance Institute: A Nervous-System-Focused Approach to Chiropractic
What is Neural Organisational Technique?
Chiropractic’s primary focus is restoring your nervous system — not just treating pain. At Peak Performance Institute in West Leederville, Dr Tash Logan uses Neural Organisational Technique (NOT) to address your body’s “fight or flight” response and help your nervous system function more effectively.
Many of our patients have reaped the benefits of NOT. This technique incorporates:
- Chiropractic adjustments — gentle spinal corrections
- Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) — specific pelvic blocking to balance the spine
- Kinesiology testing — to assess which systems need support
- Reflex and lymphatic point activation
- Drop piece and activator techniques
What does NOT address?
Patients at PPI seek NOT for assistance with:
- Energy levels
- Pelvic rotation and alignment
- Stress and the “fight or flight” response
- Pelvic floor function
- Digestion
- Immune system support
- Sleep quality
The three stressors
The three common factors that affect spinal alignment and nervous system function are physical, chemical and emotional stresses. NOT has specific protocols for each system to help regulate your sympathetic (fight or flight) and parasympathetic (rest and digest) responses.
Systems addressed in NOT include:
- Pelvic floor
- Sleep regulation
- Stress response
- Pelvic rotation
- Stomach valves and digestion
Understanding leg length inequality
Leg length inequality can stem from your neck (cervical spine), your lower back (lumbar spine), or from an actual difference in leg bone length. Dr Logan assesses the root cause using a simple test: when your knees are bent while you lie face down, if the short leg stays short on the same side, it’s likely coming from your neck. If the shortness changes to the other leg, it may be coming from your lower back.
Further investigations such as X-rays and full spine scans can confirm the root cause.
How assessment works
Kinesiology testing (muscle testing) is used to detect weaknesses in each system. Dr Logan will explain the process and guide you through the testing — typically using adductor (leg pushing) strength to determine which system needs attention during your session.
