Chest and rib pain can be caused by a variety of factors, including chronic coughing, vigorous exercise, shallow breathing, poor posture, and shoulder dysfunction. It is important to first determine that the pain is not due to a traumatic or visceral origin and is coming from the muscles of the chest or rib joints and cartilage.

Treatment of chest pain typically involves an orthopedic assessment by one of our therapists and a thorough history to identify the specific area of concern. Inflammation in the rib joints and cartilage can be managed with conservative management and utilisation of ultrasound and/or laser therapy in addition to offloading techniques, while weaknesses in the shoulders and mid-back can be addressed through strengthening exercises to prevent reoccurrence. A personalised treatment plan will be developed for you to address the specific cause of the chest pain and provide relief.
